joriandrake: Ok I'm almost done with spell list, would like to ask if I could make a variant for Cloudkill, isntead of poison it would be acid, spell name "Acid Cloud"
Smon: yeah, if same effects, but immunity to acid would protect. OK.

joriandrake: Fits my concept/dragon better, and the image of 'acid vapor'

joriandrake: would undead animated by me get damaged by it? I assume yes but unsure
Smon: It's safer for you to use, but would be diluted by water > no damage, whereas poison is carried in water
Smon: Yes of course
Smon: Whereas zombies & skels immune to poison
Smon: Poison & lightning great in water but weaker generally, acid & fire the reverse
joriandrake: hmm....Domination has no time limit o_O
joriandrake: I still try to make spell list fit my idea of Transmuter with interest in shadows, so i will pick those above what I as player find more interesting in msot cases

joriandrake: The spells per level, do they work as wizard one, which can be changed/re-prepared? Does my dragon have a wizard tome? or is it known/innate spells which don't need a book or materials?

Smon: I think your spells known = spells per level but you can prep a spell multiple times
Smon: So innate but you can take several of X and none of Y and change daily
joriandrake: ok
Smon: This is how Moldvay Basic D&D did it for Wizards
Smon: You don't need a book or materials under 1 gp, but do need expensive components where listed.
joriandrake: okay, i have all except the lvl6 spell decided so I am probably fine with that
Smon: MUs don't get bonus spells in 1e-2e for high INT
Smon: AFAIK
Smon: You can swap out 1 spell per level up.
joriandrake: ah, okay
Smon: You are a level/age 6 dragon, ie Adult. There are 6 more age categories to level 12 Great Wyrm
Smon: GM: The four dragons reach the barren island. It takes several days before you find anything of interest & your vassals are exhausted.
Smon: Searching the island, you eventually find items from your stolen treasure hoards scattered in front of an opening into the side of a mountain. There are just enough pieces from each of your hoards to identify, but nowhere near the total amount stolen from you. The items form a trail into the cave. It is impossible to tell if they were dropped there by accident or if they were deliberately placed to attract your attention.
DESTROYERBILL: i tell my vassals go get some rest ... im kidding work harder
Smon: GM: It looks like about 1000gp from each of your 4 hoards, and items you don't recognise, another 1000gp worth - maybe a 5th dragon?
Smon: The elves groan. "Yes, master."
Smon: Bloodtide has 2 ogre guards on his back, the black dragon (remind me your name) 6 sea elves.

Smon: The other two, red females, didn't bother.
DESTROYERBILL: well your better awake then asleep and you cant fight when your a sleep so seriously get some rest
Smon: OK. Darixus you see a jade frog, ebony scabbard, various other of your missing trinkets.
Smon: The ogres nod happily, dismounting and going to make camp near the cave mouth.
DESTROYERBILL: we all should get some rest before we go
joriandrake: "This was suspicious to begin with, they seem to try to make fools of us."
DESTROYERBILL: i form a circle around the camp of the ogers with my body
Smon: Map - you are on the easternmost isle of the Western Reaches NW of Rockshore.
joriandrake: ooc: Potion of heroism is material component for my 6th level spell, how shall I handle that? Does Darixus travel with a few potions?

DESTROYERBILL: what is that
Smon: "In the southern region, a series of hot, dry islands separates the temperate isles from the tropical climes. Rockshore, with its sweltering badlands and broken canyons, lies to the west of Aridia and Inferno, which are known for their arid plains, parched mountains, and blazing deserts.
DESTROYERBILL: your dragon no but you might of ordered your vassels to carry it
joriandrake: 'A bit tooo... dry for my tastes." Darixus remarks
DESTROYERBILL: i love it
joriandrake: ooc: Bill, "Tenser's Transformation' basically makes my mage into a fighter, with additional bonuses, picked it for cases it could be required
DESTROYERBILL: not as good as the blood tide iland with the burning sea but still good enougth
Smon: Fireclaw also enjoys these hot bleak islands, drier than great Bloodtide Isle itself. She whistles cheerily.
DESTROYERBILL: oh okay
joriandrake: "That must be... crispy." Darixus reacts
Smon: I guess re the potion of heroism, ok say 1000gp for each one, you need to recover that on the adventure to break even
joriandrake: ok
Smon: All lost/used treasure hurts your dragon spirit so each used potion = -1000 XP
joriandrake: o.O (not that I want to use it often, it is jsut for safety measure basically)
DESTROYERBILL: why buy it why not plunder it from humans

DESTROYERBILL: what is it
Smon: She points out what look like long flaps on both sides of the cave entry, floor to 50' ceiling.
joriandrake: "Hm?"
Smon: The entry is 100' across.
Smon: Gingerly she pries back a flap, made of leathery flexible material.
DESTROYERBILL: are we small enougth
Smon: Behind it dull steel gleams.
Smon: You can go in easy, but not fly.
DESTROYERBILL: i will use my 1/day abilety to melt the metal by lokking at it
Smon: The reds have 80-99' body at age 6 with 68-87' tails
joriandrake: darixus will see what the reds plan to do
Smon: Black is 42-51' long w 35-43' tail.
DESTROYERBILL: im 99 and 87
Smon: GM: Bloodtide stares at the steel. Slowly it starts to glow red.
Smon: After a couple minutes the leathery flap bursts into flame and starts to burn merrily.
Smon: Fireclaw: "Fascinating..."
Smon: Flaming Beauty, Bloodtide's mate, yawns irritably, picking whale meat from her teeth. "Are we ever going in?"
joriandrake: "Impressive" and Draxius thinks it might have been easier to open otherwise
DESTROYERBILL: okay lets go in
Smon: GM: The four dragons head down the long tunnel, the girls in the lead.
Smon: Ahead it looks like it opens into a large chamber.
DESTROYERBILL: ill be in the lead
DESTROYERBILL: i have the most hp
Smon: As Bloodtide pushes to the front ahead of Fireclaw... Suddenly there is a massive clang as the mighty steel doors behind you close over the entrance, plunging you into darkness.
joriandrake: "Of course" The black dragon and company have nothing against the reds going ahead
Smon: Beauty: "A trap! How quaint."
joriandrake: "How....'unexpected'..." Darixus sighs
Smon: A dim green glow comes from the chamber ahead.
DESTROYERBILL: i tell fire claw and flaming beuty to start up ther breath so it genarates light i do the same
Smon: GM: The reds breathe hotly, fire flickering from nostrils and mouth, casting a red glow.
DESTROYERBILL: hay dood send one of your elves ahaid to check out the green light
Smon: Beauty trots on to the entry of the chamber ahead, pausing at the threshold.
joriandrake: "I would prefer my elven servants not to be burned crispy"
Smon: "Nothing here but tunnels, statues, and... is that my Vase?!"
Smon: You see Beauty enter the great hall.
Smon: Do you follow or hang back?
joriandrake: "That would be unwise"
DESTROYERBILL: beuty come back
joriandrake: Darixus waits to see what trap the woman springs
DESTROYERBILL: i send one of my ogers to check out the vase
Smon: You hear more mutterings from Beauty, apparently more of her treasure is in there.
Smon: You never told your ogres to break camp.
Smon: They are resting beyond the steel doors.
Smon: "Just going to scoop this up carefully..." says Beauty.
DESTROYERBILL: beuty come back it is obvisely trapped
DESTROYERBILL: no
DESTROYERBILL: dont
DESTROYERBILL: i use danger sense
Smon: "No, no traps.... But I can see some of your hoard too over by that other exit..."
joriandrake: ooc: if any of my elves is good at finding traps tell me, planning nondetection/invisibility then
Smon: Bloodtide senses there is danger in this dungeon.
DESTROYERBILL: where
Smon: You can send elves in to check it out, they are exhausted though so -4 checks/saves.
DESTROYERBILL: it tells me where the danger is

joriandrake: I wil pick one that seems most fit, and prepare him for scouting
DESTROYERBILL: what is the bonus forn 14 chra
joriandrake: "You, go and scout around, check for traps, and try to survive them if you find any"
joriandrake: "You should be invisible to enemies... unless undead."
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20 and gets: 10,
Smon: Beauty pops her head back in: "No traps in there silly! Are you coming or not?" The elf goes in past her sneaking, then comes back again.
DESTROYERBILL: okay im coming
Smon: Elf to Darixus: "Big statues Master... three exits, treasure trails to each."
Smon: This oddly shaped cavern was definitely carved out of the mountain's solid interior. The walls have sharp corners and smooth finishes, and the floor and ceiling are flat and polished. Great statues line the walls. Each statue is humanoid in shape, standing about 20feet tall. They are crafted from stone or metal, standing silently and staring into the center of the chamber. Three passages lead out of the entrance hall. More items from your treasure hoards spill across the stone' floor and into each dark passage.
Smon: It's about 400' on average N-S (you came in from N), longer E-W.
DESTROYERBILL: lets all go down one then come back out and go back
Smon: 1 exit in W wall, 2 in S wall, all 100' wide, enough for 2 adult dragons to fight abreast.
Smon: /roll d3
Smon rolls 1d3 and gets: 2
joriandrake: "I believe they think we will all follow the trail to our own treasures"
joriandrake: "What if we would swap, and follow different trails? The prepared taps might not be ideal then against us"
Smon: Darixus & Bloodtide's treasure trail leads to the western of the 2 south tunnels.

DESTROYERBILL: its ovibisly a ploy to split us up
Smon: Fireclaw's & Beauty's to the eastern s tunnel, and a 5th trail to the west tunnel.
joriandrake: "Well... they do know we're not likely to work together. Doing the opposite of what they expect is in any case a good idea"
DESTROYERBILL: im following the girls
Smon: Beauty & Fireclaw follow their treasure trail down the eastern S tunnel, only about 150' long, with Bloodtide following.
joriandrake: "I'll then also follow you, let's not split up" Draixus then turns to where (assumedly) the invisible elf stands "Go and continue scouting as long you can under invisibility. come report back now and then I notify you if it still works" then to other elves "Come after me"
Smon: A large pond of still water dominates this long, narrow chamber. A smaller pond fills the east portion of the cave. A passage leads to the south, < and flickering firelight can be seen in that direction.
Smon: Elf: "Which tunnel, master?"
joriandrake: "The one without water. You can swim and breath underwater but those who watch us would likely notice you despite invisibility. Go on the dry route"
Smon: Bloodtide sees his ladies enter the watery chamber ahead, glancing with disapproval at the water.
Smon: Elf: "Yes, Master..."
joriandrake: Draxius looks under the water, if deep enough around
Smon: He heads down W south tunnel, the one w your treasure.
DESTROYERBILL: i follow the girls
Smon: As Daraxus enters the water chamber, about 150' deep but 450' east west, Beauty steps between the two pools.
Smon: As she passes between the two pools, a great wave rises up out of the larger one and splashes toward her. For a moment, you see two deep green orbs peering at you out of the rolling wave. Then it is upon her, attacking with waves like crashing fists!
joriandrake: "Wait a moment, let me check what's underwater"
joriandrake: "Nevermind"
Smon: /roll d20+12
joriandrake: ooc: do the orbs seem magical, or alive?
Smon rolls 1d20+12 and gets: 6, (+12) = 18
Smon: yes, its eyes
Smon: Beauty laughs as the water elemental beats pathetically at her...

Smon: In moments anything in there is ripped apart.
joriandrake: "Guess this thing might be immune to acid..." Darixus ponders
Smon: Most of the water is out of the smaller pool, now full of a smug red dragon.
Smon: A green eye orb rolls to a stop at Darixus' forefeet.
joriandrake: "A bath can be very pleasant."
Smon: Fireclaw: "I think whoever trapped us is insulting our abilities..."
joriandrake: Carefull picking it up and inspecting it
Smon: It's melting as D picks it up - eye of elemental!
joriandrake: "My guess is... what is that expression? Ah yes, 'greenhorn' dragon hunters"
Smon: Elf: "Sir, I have a jar for that?"
joriandrake: "Place it then away. Could be useful"
Smon: Beauty: "They have a lot of resources for greenhorns... Unless this dungeon was here already."
Smon: The elf secures the eye.
joriandrake: "I do think that they just modified an existing structure for us." Darixus agress with beauty
Smon: As Fireclaw & Darixus move forward and look into the chamber, there is another CLANG! behind them.
Smon: Another set of doors have closed over the tunnel behind them.
DESTROYERBILL: i try to break them open
Smon: Fireclaw: "The Tinker Gnomes have these things I've heard of, called Railroads..."
joriandrake: "Oh my, what a sirprise." Darixus says with a sarcastic tone
joriandrake: surprise*
Smon: Bloodtide soon ascertains the door is magically locked.
joriandrake: Darixus checks for anything that beneath them would work as a 'road'
Smon: He could probably tear through in a few days.
DESTROYERBILL: we will just walk on
Smon: No 'road'
joriandrake: "Let me handle it"
joriandrake: Darixus walks there and casts Knock
Smon: Bloodtide starts south
Smon: page for Knock in phb?
joriandrake: "I said wait a minute, I might be able to open this"
Smon: found it - 184
DESTROYERBILL: okay ill wait

Smon: Darixus hears a click as he breaks the Wizard Lock enchantment.
Smon: It may now be possible to prise the doors apart.
Smon: BT comes back & tries to prise doors open.
joriandrake: "One of you reds need to hold the door open"
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d100 and gets: 96,
joriandrake: "It temporarily holds up the magic, but if the door closes again it activates again"
Smon: 90% success BT w STR 23
Smon: LOL
Smon: These doors are REALLY stiff
Smon: Looks like STR 25 to open
DESTROYERBILL: can you mabye buff strength darixes
joriandrake: Darixus tries too first

Smon: BT's enlarged form fills the tunnel but STILL can't open door! Suddenly you hear a disembodied voice!
joriandrake: "Although I prefer not to waste that spell"
Smon: "Ha ha ha ha! The work of the Dwarves! Too much for foolish Dragons!"
joriandrake: Darixus looks around for switches and such, orders the elves too
Smon: "For 70 years I, Hammerin, have toiled on this Maze! Welcome to your Doom, fools!"
DESTROYERBILL: when i see you ill rip your head off
Smon: "Ha ha ha. Then come, find me!"
DESTROYERBILL: is ther a way out
joriandrake: "That is a long time to bother with trapping us in it, we're not even some important dragons."
joriandrake: "Must've been lonely" he adds
Smon: "The only way out is to complete the Maze! Hurry now, before your fires take all the air and you suffocate on your own foul fumes!"
Smon: There is an edge of madness in the dwarven voice.
joriandrake: "Darixus turns to the reds" Well, at least we now know that this is the way out, let us jsut play along with his game and 'solve' the maze"
DESTROYERBILL: we just gave you a pearl and left we let you live
Smon: "I can see you through this enchanted orb! I shall enjoy watching you perish!"
Smon: "ha ha ha ha ha ha"
DESTROYERBILL: okay on we go
joriandrake: "Let us enjoy this." Darixus smiles. "Just let us go through his maze"
DESTROYERBILL: okay it may be fun
Smon: GM: 7 mins left but this looks a good point to wrap up, ok?
Smon: Before next room
joriandrake: Then to the voice "Thank you for this entertainment"
DESTROYERBILL: ripping your head off
Smon: Fireclaw smiles at Darixus. "For a Black drake you're quite funny!"
joriandrake: ooc I could go on for 3 more hours
DESTROYERBILL: how about you be our narater
Smon: (I have another game in an hour)
Smon: (w Chris & co)
joriandrake: Darixus makes a slightly theatrical bow, as far a dragon can do it "Thank you"
